As a part of its compliance program, ANZRP strategically deploys GPS trackers in e-waste loads to ensure they reach the intended recycler destination.
ANZRP tracks the GPS signal all the way through the e-waste journey: collection, transport and recycling. These trackers also capture how long the e-waste stays at different sites.
When not in motion, the GPS tracker pings a “heartbeat” every 12 hours – this heartbeat stops only if the battery goes flat, or once the tracker is destroyed or disassembled.
ANZRP uses additional evidence, such as Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage and statements from partners to confirm who picked up the load of e-waste, and to which recycler it was taken. ANZRP’s team then compiles reports based on the tracking results.
ANZRP deploys GPS trackers in loads managed by the TechCollect program as well as member take back programs.
