Building a Stronger Circular Economy for Batteries
ANZRP is proud to work alongside the Association for the Battery Recycling & Reuse Industry (ABRI), Australia’s peak industry body representing organisations across the battery value chain. From manufacturers, importers and retailers through to collectors, recyclers and technology and service providers, ABRI brings industry together to advance the safe, sustainable and responsible management of batteries throughout their lifecycle.
As Australia accelerates the transition to electrification, renewable energy and battery-powered technologies, ABRI plays a critical role in supporting policies, investment and innovation that strengthen battery recovery, recycling, reuse and circular economy outcomes.

About ABRI
ABRI is the national voice for Australia’s battery recycling, reuse and resource recovery sector. The organisation works to promote the collection, reuse, recycling and safe management of batteries while advocating for effective producer responsibility frameworks and nationally consistent policy settings.
ABRI represents members across the battery supply chain and provides leadership on key issues including:
- Battery stewardship and producer responsibility
- Battery collection and recovery systems
- Recycling and materials recovery
- Critical minerals and resource security
- Battery safety and risk management
- Industry research and market development; and
- Circular economy policy and advocacy
Through industry collaboration, research and stakeholder engagement, ABRI helps create the conditions needed for a leading battery recycling industry in Australia.

Creating Industry Impact
ABRI is helping shape the future of battery recovery in Australia by highlighting the economic, environmental and strategic importance of battery recycling.
Recent industry analysis commissioned by ABRI found Australia’s battery materials recovery sector already contributes billions of dollars to the national economy and supports thousands of jobs, with significant growth expected as increasing volumes of electric vehicle, energy storage and consumer batteries reach end-of-life.
By bringing together industry, government and research organisations, ABRI is helping drive investment in infrastructure, strengthen supply-chain resilience and support the recovery of valuable materials that can be returned to productive use.
Working Towards Shared Goals
ANZRP and ABRI share a commitment to advancing product stewardship, increasing resource recovery and supporting Australia’s transition to a more circular economy.
Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, we are helping build practical solutions that improve battery collection, recycling and material recovery outcomes while supporting safer and more sustainable battery management across Australia.
