Last year ANZRP submitted a proposal to Standards Australia to review AS/NZS 5377:2013 Collection, storage, transport and treatment of end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment. This review kicked off in February and ANZRP is part of the review committee represented by our Sustainability Programs Manager, Carla Vasconi.

It is ANZRP’s intention to:

  • Clarify some clauses which are open to interpretation, particularly downstream material traceability
  • Review methods of processing, disposal and recovery for re-use for currency
  • Strengthen health, safety and environmental and data security controls
  • Ensure consistency with international standards where appropriate
  • Ensure the standard is useful for all relevant e-waste product stewardship schemes in Australia

If you would like to suggest any gaps or clauses requiring review, please submit suggestions to: carla.vasconi@anzrp.com.au.

ANZRP Members also have the opportunity to join working groups to focus on specific chapter/topic of the standard. If you are interested in this, please contact carla.vasconi@anzrp.com.au.

Additionally, ANZRP Members will be able to review drafts via a formal review process (you will need to sign a deed of agreement with Standards Australia which addresses confidentiality requirements).

  • Committee Draft Cut-off: 21st November 2019
  • Target Public Comment Period: February – April 2020
