For several years TechCollect has leveraged its strong relationship with the City of Melbourne to provide a dedicated e-waste drop-off event for residents in Melbourne’s inner city.
As part of the City of Melbourne’s annual Spring Clean campaign, residents are encouraged to clear out their homes and dispose of any unwanted items thoughtfully, through organised hard waste collections and hazardous waste drop-off events. TechCollect provides a free event for Melbournians to drop off their unwanted electronics for recycling.
Despite TechCollect’s Operations team enduring Melbourne’s typical four-seasons-in-one-day weather, the event was hailed a success.
Migrating from the previous location at Queensbridge Square in Southbank to Carlton’s Argyle Square, this year’s event sought to capture redundant IT and electronics from the surrounding university residences and other apartment buildings.
ANZRP CEO Warren Overton said the event was successful in bringing in a higher portion of quality IT. “We saw a large number of laptops and computers which is high quality product.”
Centrally located in a park with nice surrounds, the event also provided an opportunity to film high quality footage that will be used to showcase the journey that e-waste takes once it is dropped off at a TechCollect site or event.
It’s this kind of grassroots communications approach and direct engagement with the local community that ensures our Members’ brands are well represented.
